Public Hearing Notice To Consider Adoption of New Public Swimming Pool Ordinance

Please take notice that the Martin County Board of Commissioners will meet in public hearing July 20, 2021 at 10:05 A.M. in the Commissioner’s Room, 201 Lake Avenue, Martin County Courthouse, Fairmont, Minnesota to consider adoption of a new Martin County Public Swimming Pool Ordinance. 

The new Martin County Public Swimming Pool Ordinance will replace in its entirety the existing Swimming Pool Ordinance that was adopted in 2014.  The new Ordinance will provide consistency with the requirements of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) by adopting Minnesota Rules Chapter 4717 (Minnesota Pool Code) by reference.  The general objectives of this Ordinance are as follows:

  1. Prevent waterborne illness.
  2. Provide a minimum standard for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of Public Swimming Pools.
  3. Correct and prevent conditions that may adversely affect persons utilizing Public Swimming Pools.
  4. Meet consumer expectations for the quality and safety of Public Swimming Pools.

The aforementioned information provides only a summary of the Martin County Public Swimming Pool Ordinance.  A full text of the Ordinance is on file in the office of the County Coordinator, located at the Martin County Courthouse, 201 Lake Avenue, Fairmont, Minnesota and at Human Services of Faribault & Martin Counties located at 115 West First Street, Fairmont, Minnesota.  The Ordinance is available for public inspection during regular hours or a copy is available on the Martin County website at www.co.martin.mn.us click on “Public Notice”
